I remember when I was thirteen and visited California and went to a lot of parties with my cousin's Sue's friends, they had this ritual where every party had to end with someone playing "Stairway to Heaven." These were all the children of very prosperous parents and they all seemed to have these ridiculously large houses to themselves all day (with the occasional brief interaction with a member of the servant class). I have no idea how the Led Zep ritual came about, how widespread it was in the Los Angeles area, or whether it was something that only existed in my cousin's extensive clique. But it must have happened a dozen times.
