Congratulations, I Hate You

Congratulate me
I finally hate you
I know you must have worked
Endless scabby days
Sour rat-milk tasting months
Blood-chapped years
Oh--who are we kidding--lifetimes
Plague-sweltered lifetimes
Forging my hatred
My hatred for you
Before I was even born
You were here weren't you
Working on my future hatred for you
This is like Lord of the Rings
Death Merchants indentured
Like sex-addicted Yahoos
Must have tooled this Hatred for you
In a cavern deep below the earth
Cast red-hot links
Hammered incandescent liens
Annealed funny chains
Stoked my hatred for you
Oh I'll stroke my Hatred for you
I'll model for you
The soul's Dollar Store chains
With which you have
Finally bound me
Like a Centerfold of Hatred
I am here for you
Your own hate dominatrix
Hateminatrix
Jinx Vixen
An idol in a basement
I'm a "scabbed-your-knees-bitch!" porn video
You should pay me by the hour
For the privilege of watching
Me hating you so much
For my ever having been born
Because you called me
Needed me so badly
It's gotta be a form of love
That brings the rat
To the poison
You set the bait
The delicious bait of hatred
And I lowered my head
And the trap came down
Across my hatred neck
But then even with my neck broken
I began to sing
Ghost Rat Song
And you screamed "Shut Up!"
But there's an Army of Me
Right behind me
Hate-Addicted
Bait-Addicted
One Good Thing
At least
You'll never be lonely
Not while we're around

note: this poem is meant to be funny. hope it comes across that way. i hope people still hear the sappy jerry lewis telethon song in the close. probably younger people don't. probably only people my age or older. i had the misfortune to reread a crazy evil rant i was on in the past and tried to write this poem as a response to my insanity then--from the outside as someone looking at me and trying to show me that hatred is a form of phantom-making and an infinite loop. it's a poem trying to capture bipolar paranoia and rage. i think it's about how loneliness alembicizes to hatred too.
