Just Watched Down to the Bone (2005)

Indie film starring Vera Farmiga.

Lee and I kept thinking "Who do you look like?" (of Vera).

Lee said "Fiona Apple" first, and I guess I had been thinking that. But she resembles a lot of other actresses as well as that singer.

She's of Ukrainian extraction.

As soon as I saw the name at the end, I said "We've seen that name on American Horror Story's credits.

But we looked it up and that's Taissa Farmiga.

They are sisters.

Taissa Farmiga is wonderful in that. But then who isn't wonderful on that show?

Supposedly, Vera is twenty-one years older than Taissa. That's quite a stretch for sisters. I wonder if they even grew up together. Seems almost unlikely with that age gap.

The movie was good, but it was really the acting that was the showcase.

The script wasn't bad but it was pretty typical indie fare.

It was all about the acting. One sensed the ensemble was acting far below its level across the board and managed to elevate the rather pedestrian material (a tale of a woman addict in love with a fellow addict and falling in and out of recovery).

Even Rush did a better job of handling this theme. And that certainly wasn't an indie film.
