Newt Gingrich received a standing ovation when he castigated his interlocutor for asking the candidate (the first question) to respond to his ex-wife's allegation that in 1999 he wanted their marriage to be an open one.
And Newt said he was outraged, as all hypocritical whores or whorish hypocrites do when asked a bald question like that.
But read his actual words. The weirdest and most troubling part of his response is the last sentence in this paragraph:
"Every person in here knows personal pain. Every person in here has had someone close to them go through painful things. To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary, a significant question in a presidential campaign, is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine. My two daughters, my two daughters wrote the head of ABC and made the point that it was wrong, that they should pull it, and I am, frankly, astounded that CNN would take trash like that and use it to open a presidential debate."
So your daughters were there, Newt, every time your wife and you had sex? They were consulted on all those matters? They verified every word spoken in the bed of conjugal Gingrichian bliss?
Puh-leez.
Yeah, I agree it was despicable. The truth so often is.
I'd take almost any odds that he also dressed up like a Nazi and made her pretend she was Anne Frank trying to wheedle a bagel.
Because that trash book he wrote indicated a serious Nazi fetish.
I'm sorry to say that one's homegrown, practically in my backyard.
Remember when Democrats discovered his lesbian sister working at Fed-Ex here?
And then she became a spokesperson for gay rights.
God, he must have hated that.
The closet opening up right in his own house.
I don't want a President that looks like a hobbit anyway.
So I guess we just got spared that embarrassment.
