Craig Conley Fecit

Craig incarnated one of my lines from a recent prose poem as this marvelous illustration (click on pic to see it more clearly).

I haz a flattered.

And I love it!

I will confess I knew I was lying in that line of poetry, because there is a kitteh photo on the Cheezburger site which features a hella lot of black cats and their shadows.

And because it's black-and-white the levels of reality are so unsure. You can't tell at first which are real cats and which are shadows, because of the iffy contrast levels in the masterful photo.

So it's a sort of successful neo-Platonist surrealism. It's also reminiscent of an Escher tesselation since the effect is rather mosaic.

But perhaps it reminds me most of the phenomenological wisdom at the heart of Kertesz's best photos.

Especially the ones he did based around shadows.
