This is so weird.

Lee, Chas and I were just watching a d.v.r.'ed episode of Jeopardy from a night or two ago.

And the final question was literally exactly what I just posted earlier today about the Arabic origin of "magazine."

It was Wiki's etymology almost verbatim.

None of the contestants guessed the correct answer.

Two of them logically went for "almanac" since the "al-" prefix is the most common one for loanwords from Arabic.

Smart. But wrong.

What are the odds of that coming up twice tonight.

Strange.
