I Just Approved
Hey, I just approved three comments on different posts and they vanished. It said they were published but none of them showed up in the "published" section of my Blogger and when I looked on the actual posts they weren't there.I checked to see if they went to the SPAM folder by mistake, but no. They're nowhere. I refreshed my screen several times and nothing. So...sorry if your comments got zapped. I didn't do it.

If Guns...
If guns are inlawed, only in-laws will have guns.
Scary thought.

My Mom
surprised me by telling me her favorite pop song, meaning a song you are likely to hear on the radio. I was trying to come up with one. I mean the sort of song you could hear on the radio as opposed to say a Cocteau Twins song or some other band rarely on radio. I think "Walk on By" would definitely be in my top ten, but I'm not even sure what the other nine would be. But I'd choose Cyndi Lauper's version even over Dionne Warwick's. And Cyndi Lauper's version is not likely to be played on radio. But then we could enlarge the "radio" requirement and go back to people like Billie Holiday or Judy Garland or....choosing favorites is pointless when you have tens of thousands of favorites. I suppose it's sad that I like that Bacharach song probably better than even any Beatles tune lol. Bacharach can write gorgeous schmaltz but I don't think this song is schmaltzy at all. It's just wonderfully naked. Oh, I know another one that would be in my top ten, "It's a Thin Line Between Love and Hate." So many artists have covered that. Pretenders version was good. But Annie Lennox's version was just perfect.

Happy Holidays Y'All
Yes, I'm an anti-social freak of some sort, but that doesn't mean I don't wish you a happy holiday or holidays!
I received a couple of emails from people I hadn't heard from in ages (maybe it was the apocalypse!) and it was very nice.
If you're in the mood for a cute, schmaltzy movie, Jeff, Who Lives at Home sort of fits the bill.
I watched it last night. I guess Jason Segel is the American Depardieu. He does a great job in this, as do the rest of the tight ensemble, which includes the ever-divine Susan Sarandon and Rae Dawn Chong.
There are some script problems (note scene with the dumpster diving if you watch this--which makes no sense) and a few other holes you could drive at least a Miyata through if not a truck.
But the movie has a good heart and if you like those "everything and everyone is connected" sort of movies (it really is a genre by now) you might enjoy this.
The movie sort of wants all its characters to be nerds and so they all play it that way. Some vacillate between nerd and nebbish.
But in the end, the movie serves up the standard movie "deliverance."
So, it's cheerful.
But maybe you're in the mood for a zombie apocalypse movie or something.
Fear.Net should be able to satisfy you.
Oh, and if you want a really funny Twitter to follow (FilthyRichmond is my personal fave) try Weird Al Yankovic's.
He's as funny as he was in the eighties and Twitter really suits him as a medium.
For philosophical humor, try Sarah Silverman's or Steven Martin's Twitter. Martin, of course, is a little drier (it was probably his literary seasoning that did that) but Silverman is like Voltaire on crack--eminently rational and brilliant but ready to be cruel to be kind.. In the right measure, of course.
I love her Twitter profile statement: "We're all molecules, sweetie."
It just started snowing fifteen minutes ago. We're actually going to have a White Christmas here. They said only "two inches," so while it's not enough to fuck it's still fun to look at.

Worst Sculpture Ever?
According to Buzznet, "Yes!"
I can't even really tell what it is.
I think maybe it's a whale swimming through a woman's body from head to toe and obviously she's spread eagle in a full porn (or birth) gape and the whale seems to be emerging from her (say it with me) vagina.
It looks like it might be out of latex, the same sort of latex from which dildos are made.
